If there’s one band we will perceive being ignored for zen and meditation playlists, it is Slipknot.
Whereas listening to their model of rage-fuelled metallic could be therapeutic for these desirous to let off a little bit steam, it is probably not a list that the majority of us would go for when patiently awaiting an elevator or curating a soundtrack for our subsequent session of ‘me-time’ within the bubble-bath.
However, due to the web, we will now think about what it could sound like if the Iowan metallic heavyweights identical to, chilled out for a bit, and swapped their heavily-distorted guitars for ukuleles, and their screams for whisper-like crooning.
The musician behind this surprisingly delicate Slipknot cowl is Morgen Blau, who has tackled their 2004 anthem Duality in a fashion which causes it to influence with all of the pressure of a silk handkerchief fluttering on a washing line in a summer time breeze.
To create the peaceable rendition, Morgen, who’s a self-proclaimed “small musician with medium sized desires”, plucks daintily on an acoustic guitar and ukulele over recordings of him snapping his fingers, flippantly tickling a cabasa, scraping a cheese grater with a kitchen whisk (for some motive) and singing in velvety hushed tones.
The top result’s a pleasantly sleepy smooth-jazz/people ditty that would even get your grandma curious about Slipknot.
So sit again, gentle a candle, and revel in some simple listening.
