In between the Grammys and the Oscars, Decca Classics has signed the award-winning composer and conductor Tan Dun.
Famend for his rating for Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon, Tan Dun wrote the theme music for the eijing Olympics and has simply accomplished an epic work, the Buddha Ardour.
Will probably be adopted by a 25-minute percussion concerto commemorating three pure disasters – the 2008 Sichuan earthquake, the Japanese Tsunami in 2011 and Hurricane Sandy in 2012.
Tan Dun, 65, says, “Decca has all the time been a dream for me. As a younger artist, I may by no means have imagined that sooner or later we might embrace one another. I’ve labored with many recording labels over time, however now, connecting with Decca, I perceive. It’s so pure and classical and, but cool and contemporary and open to all types of music and cultures, it’s a very particular place. I really feel deeply honoured to be a part of it.”
